Health and Wellness Blood Tests
Want to check your own A1c or cholesterol levels? Are you experiencing symptoms of a disease or feeling unwell? These are just a few of the reasons our people contact us directly for lab testing. Many of our lab tests (blood) are for personal health — while we offer comprehensive plans, panels, and programs to organizations, we are also capable of wielding these services for individuals. Our clients can self-direct wellness testing or we can fulfill any lab tests prescribed by medical practitioners. We simplify the process, get you in and out quickly while saving you money. Know exactly what your testing will cost upfront and benefit from the savings.
Individual Blood and Lab Testing
Whether you need health and wellness lab testing for yourself or a loved one, we offer several testing options to fit your budget and needs. We’ve developed panels that scale by company size, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t very affordable for individuals.
If done annually, these individual health and wellness checks can help your doctor identify trends for certain conditions by comparing them with previous results. Specific blood tests are available for males and females to target particular areas of concern.
Male Health and Wellness Blood Testing
Annual testing is important for monitoring your health. With a health and wellness blood panel, men with potential risk factors can test for conditions like cardiovascular disease, prostate-related health or diabetes. Men may also schedule this test to monitor the impact of their current medications or diet on their health.
Typical standard wellness panels require a blood sample and urine test. To ensure clear results, we ask that clients refrain from eating for nine to 12 hours before the test.
The results of the male health and wellness blood test will include levels of the following:
- Lipid and cholesterol: High lipid and cholesterol levels in the blood can indicate a risk of developing strokes and cardiovascular disease.
- Testosterone: An imbalance in testosterone levels can produce complications such as muscle weakness, increased body fat, reduced sex drive or loss of body hair.
- Prostate-specific antigen (PSA): Test your PSA levels for signs of prostate cancer, prostatitis or enlarged prostate.
- Metabolic substances: Measure 14 substances — including enzymes and proteins — to evaluate the body's metabolic process in the kidneys and liver.
- Urinalysis: Abnormal molecules in the urine — such as high glucose or the presence of certain proteins — may indicate early signs of conditions like diabetes.
- Blood cell counts: Screen your platelets and red and white blood cell counts for blood conditions like anemia.
- Thyroid hormones: Test for hormone levels in the blood to assess thyroid function.
- Hemoglobin A1C: This test checks your blood glucose levels and determines your risk of diabetes.
- C-reactive protein: Identify any present inflammation in your body, including arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Female Health and Wellness Blood Testing
Because female organs and bodily processes differ from those of men, women face more opportunities for hormonal and blood-related imbalances. A woman's blood testing can monitor fertility, menstruation and cancer.
Females have certain hormones and biomarkers that are expressed differently and require separate testing. The women's health and wellness blood panel is very similar to the men's option, but it omits PSA testing. Test results also differ by including levels of the following:
- Alanine aminotransferase (ALT): Also called serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase and tests, ALT is tested in the bloodstream to check for liver damage.
- Testosterone: In women, a low level of testosterone can fight against fatigue and depression. It also helps improve muscle mass and develop strong bones.
- Estrogen: This hormone plays a crucial role in a woman's reproductive health. There are three types of estrogen — estrone, estradiol and estriol. Low levels of estrogen can cause irregular periods, headaches, mood swings and fertility issues.
- Progesterone: The primary job of progesterone is to regulate the menstrual cycle. A progesterone imbalance can cause issues during menopause or amenorrhea in women still menstruating.
- Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): FSH controls a woman's menstrual cycle and stimulates the growth of eggs. A consistently high level of FSH can decrease a woman's chances of becoming pregnant.
Personal Health Lab Testing Services at Test Smartly Labs
In today’s climate, we don’t blame you for not wanting to pay $35, $50 or even $200 to see your doctor only to have them tell you to get lab work done and return at a later date. There are options where you can take control of your own health, even when it comes to lab testing.
While we encourage you to always discuss your test results with a doctor, if you’d like to schedule your own blood draw and test for certain hormone levels, fitness panels or diseases and conditions – you can do that. Let us know the lab test you’d like to run — we can run nearly anything that requires a blood or urine sample.
