Understanding the Benefits of On-Site Drug Testing

Imagine walking a tightrope, blindfolded. One wrong step and you’re in a free fall – it’s not so different from operating a business without an effective drug and alcohol testing policy. It can feel like navigating blindly through the increased risk from liability, decreased worker productivity, employee safety, and potential non-compliance with regulations.

You might be thinking “Is there a way to make this safer?” Absolutely! Consider on-site drug testing – your metaphorical safety net.

The Advantages of On-site Drug Testing in the Workplace can be Significant!

The advantages of on-site drug testing go beyond just ensuring a drug-free workplace. It’s about improving overall productivity, promoting safety, improving staff moral and limiting potential liability risk.

1. Boosting Employee Productivity

A sober workforce is more productive. That’s no secret. When employees know they may be tested for drugs at any time in their place of work, it can deter recreational or habitual drug use that might otherwise hamper performance.

2. Promoting Workplace Safety

Safety in the workplace is of paramount importance, especially in industries like construction or transportation where impaired judgment can lead to accidents. Regular on-site drug and alcohol testing ensures workers are not under the influence while operating heavy machinery or driving vehicles – reducing potential hazards from impaired co-workers dramatically.

In addition, having a consistent screening process helps create an environment where everyone feels secure knowing their colleagues are as committed to safety as they are themselves.

3. Maintaining Policy & Regulatory Compliance

Federal regulations require certain industries such as aviation, trucking, and public transit to implement regular employee drug and alcohol testing. But it doesn’t stop there; many companies now enforce internal drug and alcohol policies regardless of federally mandated industries. Drug and alcohol testing is especially necessary as it relates to safety-sensitive positions and those working in areas where dangerous situations can occur.

Conducting on-site drug & alcohol testing lets businesses streamline and effectively manage this time-consuming process. On-site drug testing reduces logistical hurdles like transporting employees to an external lab, thus saving both time and money.

4. Preserving Employee Wellbeing

Finally, the presence of regular on-site drug and alcohol testing can help struggling individuals seek the help they need. Substance abuse is often symptomatic of deeper issues – stress, mental health disorders, or personal problems. Many organizations have assistance available for those individuals who need help with excessive drug or alcohol usage.

Drug & Alcohol testing is more than just a tool for a substance-free workplace, on-site drug testing can be instrumental in helping to boost productivity, promote safety, and maintain compliance with regulations and policies. Employees understanding that they can be tested randomly leads to better awareness and engagement in the program. Regular drug and alcohol testing can help improve safety, especially in high-risk industries and for those working in potentially hazardous jobs.

Every organization should prioritize maintaining a safe environment that is free from illicit or excessive substance abuse.

How does On-Site Drug Testing Work?

If you’re curious about the process of on-site drug & alcohol testing in and around Kansas City, it’s much easier than you might think. Test Smartly Labs brings all the necessary equipment, documentation, and tests directly to your workplace. This lets us conduct all needed alcohol and drug testing right at your location without the need to shut-down operations or send employees out to our local area lab testing centers.

When we arrive for on-site testing, our team is prepared with everything they need to run accurate and efficient assessments. But don’t worry – this doesn’t mean turning your break room into a full-blown lab. We only bring what’s essential for sample collection and initial screening.

We can use either lab-based tests or rapid screens based on your needs and requirements. If a rapid screen comes back non-negative during this initial screen, we secure the sample and send it to the appropriate Test Smartly Labs affiliated laboratory for further lab confirmation and medical review.  The entire process is efficient and reliable ensuring that all parties are treated fairly.

How are Test Specimens Collected On-site?

Scheduling an onsite testing session is straightforward too: You tell us when you want us there. Our Test Smartly Labs on-site teams work flexibly to accommodate your preferred testing times – whether it’s during regular work hours or even late-night shifts.

Once you’ve scheduled drug or alcohol testing with us, we handle everything else. We strive to conduct the on-site drug testing process without creating any unnecessary disruptions to your usual activities.

This dedication and understanding have made Test Smartly Labs a trusted partner for many businesses, government agencies, courts, and many others throughout the Kansas City area for over a decade.

How do I Schedule On-Site Drug Testing?

The actual process of collecting samples depends largely on the type and method of test being conducted – be it breath alcohol, urine, hair follicle or oral fluid the professionals at Test Smartly Labs ensure proper documentation and specimen integrity. In every case though, maintaining professionalism and dignity for our customers is paramount.

In urine-based tests (the most common), individuals are given privacy but may also monitored if required by regulation or policy so as not to compromise the screen or test results through adulterant tampering or specimen substitution. For saliva specimens as required for oral fluid drug testing is a mouth swab, there’s no need for restroom facilities or private offices – making these tests especially suited for outdoor events or other workplaces where such amenities may be scarce.

How does On-site Testing differ from Mobile Drug Testing?

If you’re looking for a drug & alcohol testing solution for your organization or workplace, it’s essential to understand the differences between on-site and mobile drug testing. Both services offer advantages, yet they have slightly different uses as described below.

On-Site Drug Testing: For Groups of 5+

When we talk about on-site drug testing, we refer to a situation where an entire group or team is tested at once or over the course of a day or two. This approach is ideal for businesses with employees located together like factories, distribution centers, schools, or corporate offices because it reduces the downtime of employees by bringing the drug testing directly into the workplace.

Employers can maintain productivity levels while ensuring compliance with mandatory company policies through on-site drug testing. It’s also beneficial when running random drug tests as all employees are already present and accounted for onsite.

Mobile Drug Testing: Flexibility for Individuals or Small Groups

In contrast, mobile drug testing typically caters more towards individuals or small groups rather than large groups of people. If there’s reasonable suspicion around specific individuals using drugs, post-accident scenarios, or if only a few employees need screening in remote locations – this mobile testing service comes handy.

Test Smartly Labs has been conducting mobile testing in the greater Kansas City and surrounding areas for well over a decade.  Mobile drug and alcohol testing is also widely used for post-accident testing including DOT post-accident requirements. Test Smartly Labs offers mobile and emergency drug and alcohol testing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The beauty of mobile testing lies in its flexibility – trained professionals can arrive wherever necessary to conduct accurate and confidential drug & alcohol screenings on-demand.

How do I Select the Best Drug Testing Option for my Organization?

To choose which option best fits your business depends largely on how many people need testing and under what circumstances.

If you have a large team that needs regular testing, on-site drug testing can save time and money. On the other hand, if you need to test individuals or smaller groups in more sporadic situations, mobile drug testing provides flexibility and convenience.

What Drug or Alcohol Tests are Most Common for On-Site or Mobile Testing?

On-site drug testing is a great way to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees in the workplace. The most common tests used in these settings include breath alcohol, urine drug tests, oral fluid / saliva drug tests, and hair follicle drug tests.

1. Breath Alcohol Test

The breathalyzer is a popular selection for immediate assessments and confirmations, as it can promptly identify the concentration of alcohol in one’s breath (BAC). It’s a preferred choice for on-site alcohol testing due to its immediate results and accuracy.  Test Smartly Labs only uses DOT approved breath alcohol devices to ensure accurate results and printouts of confirmations.

2. Urine Drug Test

Urine drug testing can detect recent use of various substances such as marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, and more. Despite needing restroom facilities for sample collection, it remains popular due to its reliability, affordability, breadth of substances that can be detected.

3. Oral Fluid / Saliva Drug Test

The lab-based oral fluid drug test, sometimes called saliva drug testing, provides for an easy method of specimen collection without the need for private restrooms, making it highly convenient when mobility matters most like roadside post-accident situations or outdoor work environments. This method also is best for those situations where an observed collection is required and is not susceptible to specimen adulteration or substitution.

4. Hair Follicle Drug Test

A hair follicle drug test is a great option when you need to check for substance use over a longer period. Hair follicle specimen analysis can detect drug usage up to 90 days prior to the test, giving an in-depth look at substance use. Although not as commonly used as urine, saliva, or breath collection it is used when those methods are not enough to cover the necessary requirements.

What’s the Cost of On-site or Mobile Testing in Kansas City?

Maintaining a safe and productive workplace requires reliable on-site drug testing. But how much does this type of service cost? Well, at Test Smartly Labs, we make sure that you get top-notch services without breaking the bank.

The cost of our on-site drug and alcohol testing depends on several factors. One major consideration is the total number of people being tested. The more employees you have participating in the test, the more affordable it becomes per person due to economies of scale.

Test Smartly Labs, conveniently located throughout the greater Kansas City area, our goal is to make testing accessible and convenient for all organizations regardless of size or industry.

Factor 1: Number of People being Tested

If your company decides to conduct regular tests with larger groups simultaneously, costs can be significantly reduced because setup times are minimized as compared to multiple individual sessions over time. This allows us at Test Smartly Labs to offer discounted rates based upon volume discounts which benefits all parties involved – giving you excellent value for money while ensuring high standards are maintained across all tests conducted.

Factor 2: Location and Time of Testing

Another factor influencing pricing is where and when these tests need taking place. Costs may vary if we’re needed after standard business hours or during weekends as additional fees might apply depending upon scheduling requirements set by each organization’s unique needs.

Factor 3: Type of Testing

Different types of drug screens come with varying price tags too; simple urine testing tends towards the lower end while more complex tests like hair follicle screening could be higher due to additional equipment and processing needs.

The solution is not a universal one; it’s tailored to your specific requirements and conditions. The on-site testing at Test Smartly Labs is tailored to your specific needs and circumstances. But rest assured that Test Smartly Labs strives to give you top-quality service at affordable rates in Kansas City.

Is There a Cost for Mobile Drug / Alcohol Testing?

There is mobile fee for the additional resources, logistics, and convenience associated with mobile drug or alcohol testing. The cost will vary based on the type of drug or alcohol testing needed, the time of the collection, and the distance we must travel to provide the mobile services.

Even with a small fee, mobile drug or alcohol testing can be a game-changer for many businesses because of its convenience and availability. Mobile testing services let us bring the necessary services directly to you, saving you valuable time.

You can contact Test Smartly Labs directly to discuss your needs and requirements for mobile drug & alcohol testing.  We are always happy to help!
