Vaccines
What Are The Most Common Vaccines?
Many once devastating diseases have been all but wiped out by vaccines. Most notable among these vaccines are:
- Varicella for chickenpox
- DTaP for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis
- Hib vaccine
- HepA
- HepB
- Influenza vaccine
- MMR for measles, mumps, rubella
- IPV for polio
- PCV13 for pneumococcus
- RV for rotavirus
Even if you don’t expect your child to get one of these diseases, it’s smart to be prepared. The CDC compares it to buckling “even though you don’t expect to be in an accident.”
Like with everything, there are a small number of risks involved when vaccinating you or your children, but studies show that they are far outweighed by the benefits—especially when done in a safe, professional environment, like here at Test Smartly Labs.

What Goes Into Vaccines?
Many people are worried about what goes into vaccines, but the ingredients have been tested extensively by the Food and Drug Administration and World Health Administration to ensure their safety and effectiveness. Components include:
- Adjuvants, such as aluminum, help strengthen the immune system so that fewer doses are needed.
- Stabilizers, such as gelatin and MSG, are used to give the vaccines a longer shelf life.
- Formaldehyde is used to inactivate viruses and detoxify bacterial toxins. By the time the vaccine is used, the amount of formaldehyde is inconsequential compared to what resides in the body naturally.
- Thimerosal is used only in the manufacturing process as a preservative. The only vaccines that contain these are the multi-doses of the influenza vaccine.
It’s estimated that two to three million deaths are prevented in all age groups each year by immunization. Sadly, out of those who don’t have access to or decide against vaccinations, more than two million children die every year from diseases that could be prevented by vaccines.
