Accurate. Court-Admissible. Confidential.
Test Smartly Labs – Trusted Across Missouri & Kansas
When it comes to matters of child custody, support, inheritance, or parental rights, legal paternity testing is often a critical step in resolving family court matters. At Test Smartly Labs, we provide court-admissible paternity testing that meets the strict chain-of-custody requirements needed for use in legal proceedings.

Why Legal Paternity Testing?
Unlike over-the-counter kits, a legally admissible paternity test — also called a chain-of-custody test — follows verified protocols that protect the accuracy, integrity, and identity of all samples.
Legal paternity testing is essential for:
-
Child custody and visitation cases
-
Establishing child support responsibilities
-
Inheritance rights
-
Immigration or adoption cases
-
Access to medical history or insurance
-
Court-ordered DNA testing
Whether you are a mother, father, or legal guardian, our lab partners ensure the process is conducted professionally and complies with AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) standards — the gold standard in relationship testing.
Why Courts Only Accept Legal Tests
Family courts require legal DNA paternity tests because they are:
-
Unbiased – Collected by certified, third-party specimen collectors
-
Secure – All samples are handled using tamper-evident packaging
-
Documented – Full chain-of-custody is maintained
-
Photographically Verified – All participants are photographed for ID validation
-
Court-Ready – Your results are legally defensible and recognized by courts nationwide
A home paternity kit might provide personal insight — but it won’t hold up in court. Save time and money by getting it done right the first time.
The Importance of Establishing Legal Paternity
Establishing legal paternity protects the child, mother, and father in many important ways:
1. Peace of Mind and Self-Identity
Knowing the biological father helps children form a stronger sense of identity and build lasting bonds with their parents. Research shows that children who grow up with a confirmed paternal relationship are more confident and emotionally stable.
2. Access to Legal Rights
Once paternity is legally confirmed, a child may gain access to:
-
Inheritance and property rights
-
Social Security and veterans’ benefits
-
Medical and life insurance
-
Legal custody and visitation arrangements
-
Parental financial support
3. Medical History
Legal paternity allows children and doctors to access accurate genetic and medical history from both parents — crucial in managing inherited health risks or conditions.
What to Expect – Be Prepared for Your Legal Paternity Test
We maintain a high standard of integrity and transparency throughout the testing process. Here’s what you’ll need:
Required for Each Participant:

Government-issued photo ID
-
Child’s birth certificate (or Social Security/insurance card for identification)
-
Completed TSL Intake Form & HIPAA Disclosure
-
Authorization to receive results
During Your Appointment:
-
Buccal swab is collected from inside the cheek (non-invasive)
-
Photo identification and photo documentation
-
Prenatal paternity tests may require a blood draw — stay hydrated
Important: You do not need to test at the same location or arrive together, but all parties must coordinate the test timing.
Trust Our Process – Certified. Verified. Defensible.
Test Smartly Labs follows strict AABB-accredited procedures, ensuring reliability at every step:

AABB-Certified Laboratory Processing
Samples are tracked from collection to testing. No shortcuts, no substitutions. -
Comprehensive Documentation
Every step is logged and auditable for legal verification.
Our lab partners meet or exceed AABB standards, the leading global accreditation body in relationship testing and DNA diagnostics.
How Much Does a Legal Paternity Test Cost?
Legal paternity tests typically range from $400–$700, depending on circumstances such as:
-
Number of people tested
-
Location of testing
-
Type of paternity test (e.g., prenatal or standard buccal swab)
Why It’s Worth It:
A legal paternity test lasts a lifetime. It’s legally binding, defensible in court, and provides conclusive evidence. Choosing an uncertified or home test could lead to case delays, added costs, or case dismissals if the results are deemed inadmissible.
Do it right the first time — your future may depend on it.
AABB Accreditation: The Gold Standard in Legal DNA Testing
The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) sets the international standard for:
-
Chain-of-custody integrity
-
Specimen handling and verification
-
Test accuracy and consistency
-
Staff training and lab protocols
At Test Smartly Labs, we exclusively partner with AABB-accredited labs to ensure every test we facilitate is fully compliant, defensible, and court-ready.
