A DOT physical does not automatically include a drug test. The physical exam checks whether a driver is medically fit to operate safely, while DOT drug testing is a separate requirement that may be ordered by an employer or program. Knowing the difference helps drivers avoid surprises before their appointment.
A drug screen only gives a fast initial result, but a flex drug testing program adds an extra layer of accuracy when it matters. With flex testing, the process can start with a screen and move to lab-based confirmation and MRO review when needed, helping employers avoid confusion and make better testing decisions.
A faint line on a drug screen usually means the test is negative, as long as the line appears within the required reading time. The line does not need to be dark to count, but unclear or questionable results may need lab confirmation for accuracy.
Gabapentin is not usually included on a standard 12-panel drug test, but it may show up if the test specifically includes gabapentin or expanded prescription drug screening. If you’re being tested for medical, workplace, legal, or compliance reasons, knowing what panel is being used can help you understand what may be detected.
Ketamine is not always included on a standard 12-panel drug test, but it can be detected if the panel specifically includes ketamine or if a specialized test is ordered. If you’re being tested for work, legal reasons, or personal clarity, knowing what the panel checks for is the only way to be sure.
