Sensitive, Confidential, and Court-Admissible Testing for Victims of Assault
Sexual assault is traumatic — and tragically more common than many realize. If you or a loved one suspects they’ve been drugged as part of a sexual assault, immediate action can be crucial in collecting physical and toxicological evidence.
At Test Smartly Labs, we offer specialized testing for date rape drugs and other substances commonly used in drug-facilitated sexual assaults (DFSA). Our team is trained to handle these cases with empathy, discretion, and professionalism. Most importantly, our tests are court-admissible and follow strict chain-of-custody protocols.
What Drugs Are Commonly Used in Sexual Assault?
The term “date rape drugs” refers to a group of fast-acting substances designed to impair memory, motor skills, or consciousness — often without the victim’s knowledge. These drugs are typically tasteless, colorless, and odorless, making them nearly impossible to detect once slipped into a drink or food item.
Our sexual assault drug panel includes testing for:
-
GHB (Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate)
-
Flunitrazepam (commonly known as Rohypnol or “roofies”)
-
Ketamine
-
MDMA (Ecstasy)
-
GBL (Gamma-Butyrolactone)
These substances may cause side effects like:
-
Drowsiness or unconsciousness
-
Confusion and disorientation
-
Muscle control loss
-
Nausea or vomiting
-
Trouble breathing
-
Inability to speak clearly
-
Memory loss (anterograde amnesia)
-
Blackouts lasting hours
Combined with alcohol, their effects become more severe — and even life-threatening.
When Should Testing Be Done?
Time is of the essence. Many of these drugs metabolize rapidly and can only be detected for a limited time:
| Drug | Detection Window (Urine) |
|---|---|
| GHB | 10–12 hours |
| Rohypnol (Flunitrazepam) | Up to 72 hours |
| Ketamine | 1–3 days |
| MDMA (Ecstasy) | 1–3 days |
If you believe you’ve been drugged, do not wait — visit your nearest Test Smartly Labs or contact law enforcement or a local hospital. Our labs are open Monday–Friday, 9AM–5PM, and walk-ins are welcome.
Sexual Assault by the Numbers
The statistics behind sexual violence in America are sobering:
-
1 in 5 women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime.
-
1 in 37 men will be victimized.
-
Among women aged 18–24, the risk is highest — especially college students.
-
Over 55% of sexual assaults occur in the victim’s own home.
-
51% of assaults are committed by intimate partners; only 13.8% involve strangers.
These numbers highlight the importance of evidence-based testing and the need for immediate support and legal protection.
Recognizing a Spiked Drink
Drugs like GHB, Ketamine, and Rohypnol can be slipped into drinks without altering their appearance, taste, or smell. But sometimes, subtle signs may appear:
-
Drink appears cloudy or discolored
-
Slight bitter or salty aftertaste
-
Unusual fizziness or foaming
-
Feeling strange or impaired after one drink
If you feel something is off — stop drinking, get help, and seek testing immediately.
What We Need from You
To conduct a toxicology panel for DFSA, please be prepared to:
-
Bring a government-issued photo ID
-
Complete the TSL Intake Form & HIPAA Disclosure
-
Bring any authorization forms or law enforcement paperwork (if applicable)
-
Pay at time of service (we can provide documentation for reimbursement or legal filings)
If submitting a urine test, arrive hydrated and ideally within 3 hours before lab closing. For nail or hair testing, be sure to remove polish and artificial materials beforehand.
We do not need your prescription information, but a Medical Review Officer (MRO) may contact you if any substances are detected.
