Accurate, Affordable Kidney Function Testing at Test Smartly Labs
Kidney disease is often called the “silent killer” because symptoms may not appear until significant damage has occurred. According to the National Kidney Foundation, one in three Americans is at risk for developing kidney disease, and approximately 30 million already live with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
At Test Smartly Labs Kansas City, we provide affordable, convenient, and highly accurate kidney function testing. Early detection can help you take control of your health and prevent the progression of kidney disease.
Why Kidney Function Testing is Critical
Your kidneys play a vital role in filtering waste, balancing electrolytes, controlling blood pressure, and producing essential hormones. When kidney function declines, serious health problems can develop, including:
-
Cardiovascular disease
-
Anemia
-
Bone weakness
-
Fluid retention and swelling
-
Kidney failure requiring dialysis or transplant
Identifying kidney disease early allows for better treatment and may help slow or stop disease progression.
Who Should Be Tested for Kidney Disease
You may be at higher risk if you have any of the following factors:
-
Diabetes
-
High blood pressure
-
Family history of kidney disease
-
Obesity
-
Prolonged use of certain medications (NSAIDs, some antibiotics)
-
Autoimmune conditions
-
Chronic infections
Testing allows your doctor to identify kidney dysfunction before it progresses to irreversible stages.
Recommended Screenings for Kidney Disease
The National Kidney Foundation recommends the following diagnostic tests:
| Test | Purpose |
|---|---|
| GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) | Blood test to measure how efficiently kidneys filter waste |
| ACR (Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio) | Urine test to detect early protein leakage, which may signal kidney damage |
Comprehensive Kidney Panel at Test Smartly Labs
In addition to GFR and ACR, Test Smartly Labs offers a complete Kidney (Renal) Panel, which evaluates multiple biomarkers involved in kidney function:
-
Albumin, Serum
-
Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), Serum
-
Calcium, Serum
-
Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
-
Chloride
-
Creatinine, Serum
-
Glucose (Fasting)
-
Phosphorus, Serum
-
Potassium, Serum
-
Sodium (Na), Serum
This comprehensive panel offers a detailed view of your kidney health, electrolyte balance, and metabolic status.
Symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
Since CKD can progress with few or no symptoms in early stages, it is important to watch for these signs:
-
Swelling of feet and ankles
-
Shortness of breath
-
Persistent fatigue
-
High blood pressure
-
Muscle cramps or twitches
-
Sleep disturbances
-
Nausea and vomiting
-
Itchy skin
-
Chest pain
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is strongly recommended to schedule testing immediately.

Average turnaround time is 2-5 business days depending on the complexity of the lab work. Most tests are available in 2-3 days.
Do You Need A List Of My Medications For A Drug Test?
