If you’re experiencing sneezing, nasal congestion, fatigue, or itchy eyes and can’t pinpoint the cause, it may not just be seasonal allergies. You could be reacting to allergens inside your home or workplace—like pet dander, dust mites, mold, or pollen. At Test Smartly Labs, we offer environmental allergy testing to help you identify exactly what’s causing your symptoms, so you can get the relief you deserve.
What Are Environmental Allergies?
Environmental allergies occur when your immune system overreacts to typically harmless substances found in your surroundings. These substances, or allergens, can include:
-
Pet dander (from cats, dogs, rabbits, etc.)
-
Pollen (from trees, grasses, and weeds)
-
Dust mites (commonly found in bedding and furniture)
-
Mold spores (especially in damp areas of your home)
When you breathe in or come into contact with these allergens, your immune system may release histamines, leading to uncomfortable or even severe symptoms.
Common Symptoms of Environmental Allergies
Environmental allergy symptoms often mimic cold symptoms, but the root cause is very different—immune system activation vs. viral infection.
Watch for these signs:
-
Sneezing or persistent runny nose
-
Nasal congestion and sinus pressure
-
Shortness of breath or wheezing
-
Itchy eyes, nose, or throat
-
Frequent headaches or fatigue
-
Skin irritation or rashes
-
Worsened asthma symptoms
If left undiagnosed, these symptoms can escalate, especially for individuals with asthma or chronic respiratory issues.
Pet Allergies: It Might Not Be the Fur
Many people assume allergies to pets are due to fur, but the real culprit is often dander—tiny skin flakes animals shed. Even with constant cleaning, pet dander can linger in your environment and trigger allergy symptoms.
If you’re suffering but unsure whether pets are the cause, we offer blood-based allergy testing that can identify sensitivities to specific animals. This can help you make informed decisions before taking any drastic measures regarding your beloved furry friend.
Dust, Mold & Household Allergens
Your home might be hiding more than just dust bunnies. Mold spores and dust mites are common household allergens that often go unnoticed. These irritants can cause serious sinus discomfort, fatigue, and even respiratory issues—especially in high-humidity or poorly ventilated areas.
With a simple blood test, Test Smartly Labs can help determine whether you’re reacting to indoor allergens, so you can target the source and reclaim your home environment.
How Environmental Allergy Testing Works
At Test Smartly Labs, we use a small blood sample to test for a variety of allergens. This test detects antibodies that indicate sensitivity to environmental triggers. Our lab professionals ensure the process is quick, clean, and comfortable.
